La Paz Baja California offers several scuba diving opportunities both in the vicinity of La Paz and the outer islands. Along the the shores of Isla Espiritu Santo and Isla Partida lie a string of reefs, enourmous boulders and submarine caves. If you are looking to do some underwater photography by far the most colorful dive spots in La Paz can be found around Los Isotes at the end of Isla Partida. A La Paz dive trip is not complete without exploring the wreck of the Salvatierra, which is a ferry boat that sunk in 1976. This dive can be challenging however it is well worth it. Unless you plan on scuba diving in the La Paz vicinity, you will need to charter a boat. There are several dive tours and boat tours in the area.
