La Paz Baja California has an International airport Marquez de Leon International Airport (LAP) and is located about 15 minutes from city center. You can catch a van from to/the airport in the $30 USD range, but if shared your price goes down. To get to La Paz, you can fly direct to the La Paz airport from Seattle and Los Angeles with Alaska Air. From La Paz, Phoenix, Tuscon and Los Angeles you can fly direct with Aero California, or Aero Mexico. La Paz airport is about eight miles from the center of the city.

Getting to La Paz by Car If you plan on taking the drive to La Paz Baja California remember to get Mexican Auto Insurance, which can be purchased easily online from Mexbound.com and avoid driving at night. La Paz is about 16 hours (700 miles) south of San Diego, California. The Baja California Trans Peninsula Highway or Mexico Highway 1 is a scenic and exciting two-lane highway that traverses coastal, desert and mountainous terrains. Baja Ferries - If you arrive from sea on a private boat, you need to check in with the Captain of the Port at the Marina Palmira. The ferry terminal is located north of town at Pichilingue with car and passenger travel to Topolobampo (Los Mochis) and Mazatlan. Getting Around in La Paz - Transportation: It’s easy to see all of La Paz on foot. Public buses travel to some of the beaches located north of town. If you want to explore the beaches located around La Paz, it’s best to rent a car. Several agencies are located in town or you may be able to make arrangements trough your hotel. La Paz is Baja Californis Sur's largest city and it's capital so expect to find almost anything you need. ATM's are located throughout the city. Buses and taxi's run throughout the main streets. There is a tourism booth run by the state on the malecon near Calle 16 de Septiembre. The main state tourism office is across from the Crowne Plaza hotel.
